Stay on top of your health by attending our Biannual Health Fair sponsored by the Corporate and Community Health Promotion Department. The Health Fair will be held on Saturday, April 5, 8:00 - 11:00 a.m. at the FCHC Beck Meeting Room in the Health Center’s new addition. Admission is free and open to the public. Northwest State Community College Nursing Students will partner with FCHC staff members to present poster displays on various health topics covering both detection and prevention. “We’re just as concerned about keeping people healthy as we are about getting them well when they have medical problems,” says E. 5 Screenings That Could Save Your Life
These five tests offered at the FCHC April 5th Health Fair can detect potential life-threatening diseases.
Comprehensive Blood Test
Includes Lipid profile for heart health, tests for liver and kidney health, hemogram to detect infections or anemia. This test requires a 12-hour fast – no food or drink 12 hours prior to the test. You can drink a small amount of water if you are required to take medication. This is a $400 test, but you will pay only $30 at the Health Fair!
Combination Carotid/Aorta/Arterial Tests
Cost is $99 for all three tests, including Radiologist’s interpretation. Approximately 20 minutes for all three tests. Pre-register by calling 419-335-2015, Ext. 2174. The three tests are:
-Stroke/Carotid Artery Screening Ultrasound scan of the carotid (neck) arteries to screen for a buildup of fatty plaque -- the leading cause of strokes.
-Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening Ultrasound scan that screens for the existence of an aneurysm (enlargement) in the abdominal aorta that could lead to a ruptured aortic artery.
-Peripheral Arterial Disease Screening Screens for arterial disease in the lower extremities. An abnormal result may indicate a risk for peripheral arterial disease and increased risk of coronary artery disease.
Osteoporosis Screening Five-minute ultrasound screen for abnormal bone mass density in men and women. Osteoporosis is painless and silent in its early stages.
