The Fulton County Health Department received word on Tuesday afternoon, 5/12/2009 that the probable case of H1N1 Influenza A in Fulton County has been confirmed by the CDC.
The 10 year old, who attends Wauseon Exempted Village School District, has fully recovered. Because the child was appropriately isolated during the illness, the concerns for the community were significantly reduced.
The Fulton County Health Department continues to advise Fulton County residents to be vigilant about monitoring your health and that of your children for symptoms of H1N1 Influenza which include:
· Fever
· Sore Throat
· Cough
· Stuffy Nose
· Chills
· Headache and Body Aches
· Fatigue
· Vomiting
· Diarrhea
Confirmed cases have been identified in 45 states. Many cases of H1N1 Influenza have shown mild illness, but for those with underlying medical conditions, the risk is much higher for severe disease. To avoid illness & protect others you should:
o Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
o Wash your hands often with soap and water or use an alcohol-based hand
gel.
o Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth.
o Avoid contact with ill persons.
